Are
We Still Under The Claws of ASUU Strike?
Since the almighty ASUU strike that occurred
on the first of seventh month of the year 2013, the Federal University of
Agriculture Abeokuta, FUNAAB has failed somewhat in getting back on track with
respect to it's normal academic calender, unlike it's other counterparts who
also suffered a great deal due to the strike.
As
the school use to boost of it's impeccably fast and productive calender, it
seems strange that it would allow that six months stoke ruin it's record up
until this period. One begin to wonder if the school management has even made
any effort to amend the situation or it simply regard the issue with a lackadaisical attitude. The school is
currently on it's 2014/2015 session break and is due to resume for the
2015/2016 session, beginning with the fresh students, on the fourth of January,
2016. This is a huge setback from the resumption date of the 2014/2015 session.
Speaking with one of the students, he stated that the school management is
probably working on the issue but that he heard rumours that the lecturers
demanded for their leave. However, he said he wouldn't blame the Vice
chancellor for the delay except that he may have allowed the lecturers too much
leverage on the issue. While he admitted that he doesn't at all like the delay,
deep down he enjoys the legal freedom from school troubles
It
is not my intention to accuse the school management of nonchalantly handling
the situation but when they refuse to address the issue publicly for all
funaabites to reason alongside them, confusion sets in. Is it assumed that
funaabites don't care enough to want to know about the delay? Tell us what you
think.
Good but what are we going to do, as in the next step to take for the candidate who did the 2015 post UTME then?
